Greg's Band "Zamar  Athens"

Greg is a member of an instrumental jazz/blues/bossa band called Zamar Athens. The band has played for a number of public and private events in the Athens area in recent years, including 6 appearances in the Athens Blue Sky Concert Series.

Greg also plays one-man performances with guitar, flute and tracks, featuring jazz, blues, pop, and Latin tunes. He was featured every Saturday evening at the Bistro Solterra restaurant in Lawrenceville for a stretch of 10 weeks (until he became too busy with his dissertation at the time!).

Zamar Athens is an instrumental quintet. The band has played both original pieces and standards, including jazz, blues, pop, and Latin items by Jobim, Gershwin, Monk, Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, George Benson, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, and many others (we've even been known to throw in some TV and movie themes!).
The typical lineup of the band features Greg Clinton (guitars/flute), Art Grider (tenor sax, synth wind controller), and Tracy Reynolds (keys/flugelhorn), along with other local musicians on bass and drums. Musicians we've worked with include long-time collaborator Chris Hood (drums), Pat Strawser (keys), James Goodhand (bass), Spencer Smith (drums), Seth Hendershot (drums), Janelle Clinton (drums), and Ron Balthazor (drums), Chris Enghauser (bass), Ian Johnson (keys), Jason Crowgey (bass), Kevin Anderson (bass), and Benji Barton (bass). Alto saxophonist Jonathan Kilgore has also appeared with the group.

Past clients include the Athens Downtown Development Authority, the Stewart Clinic, Farm 255 Restaurant, and the UGA Gwinnett campus. Please call for reference contact information!
